Hi, I’m Cat!

I’m a trainer and speaker who helps people identify and remove roadblocks getting in the way of important goals.

As someone who has taught a variety of topics over the past 20 years, including four years teaching virtual presenting skills, I noticed a common theme.

So many people feel ready and excited to take action with their new knowledge and skills only to find themselves stuck in a familiar cycle.

They know what to do, but they aren’t doing it.

Something must be missing, so they decide to keep building their skills.

• Watch another YouTube video
• Read another book
• Buy another course

At some point, it will click and everything will fall into place, right?

Uncovering Hidden Roadblocks

I’ll never forget the moment.

Sitting in a Montreal hotel conference room learning there’s more than one way to be stuck.

When you are not taking action despite a genuine desire to change, you can be facing one the following:

  • Technical challenge
  • Adaptive challenge

A technical challenge is when we are missing information or skills, like not knowing how to use new software.

An adaptive challenge is when we have the information or skills, but we’re still not doing it. Like when you know to use the software, but you won’t use it.

That conference speaker was sharing the Immunity to Change framework, which I would go on to learn and become licensed to teach in 2012.

A core idea of the training:

  • Technical challenges need a new skillset
  • Adaptive challenges need a new mindset

But for a long time, I felt like something was missing.

Finally in Spring of 2024, while I was in the process of being formally diagnosed with ADHD, it struck me.

For years I struggled with initiating tasks I knew how to do. Since I had the skillset, I assumed it must be a mindset issue.

That fears had been holding me back from taking action.

But what if it’s actually brain chemistry, too?
A literal lack of dopamine keeping me stuck.

So I starting looking at challenges in terms of these 3 roadblocks:

  • Logical
  • Biological
  • Psychological

Eventually, this led me to create The Momentum Formula.

Removing Shame from the Equation

Here’s the thing about knowing what to do, but not doing it.

It feels bad.

And it usually leads to asking, “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I change?”

You know better, but you aren’t doing better.

So not only are you feeling stuck, your inaction adds on a layer of guilt and shame.

Hear me when I say: You are not broken. There is nothing ‘wrong’ with you.

Even if you have true limitations that others don’t, you can still use The Momentum Formula to address modifications based on your reality.

I’m on a mission to help people reframe what it means when we feel stuck. Instead of asking what’s wrong with me, asking what’s missing from the formula.
